Do you have a loved one living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or another memory care diagnosis? The Palo Alto City Library has Memory Care Kits available for check out.
In partnership with the California State Library Mental Health Initiative and the Southern California Library Cooperative, the Library is providing seven interactive kits to help individuals experiencing Alzheimer's Disease/dementia and other memory care diagnoses. Research indicates that interactive and multi-sensory materials used with people experiencing Dementia/Alzheimer's promote positive results.
There are seven separate kits available for check out at the Rinconada Library:
- Memory Lane Kits:, opens a new window Hands-on activity kits based on a familiar decade (1940s, 1950s or 1960s)
- Memory Activity Kits: Hands-on activity kits based on the stages of Dementia/Alzheimer’s (Early – Mid, Mid – Late, Late)
- Caregiver Kit: Materials and resources for family members that function as caregivers
Kits can be requested and sent to any branch library. They are available for 6-weeks and cannot be renewed.
