Travel the World with Coursera

Our Coursera subscription, available for a limited time only, includes top universities in Asia! For AAPI month this year I did the unthinkable and searched their entire list of 130+ universities to bring you this blog post: quick links to every university in Asia (I did not find any Pacific Islands). Continue reading for an advanced search query you can't find anywhere else.

The List

For the best experience, make sure you are logged in before clicking these links. I also make no promises this list is complete when you read it—it's accurate for today, Friday the 13th of May 2022 (spooky).

Chinese University of Hong Kong
The top search result in this list has 4.7 out of 5 stars and has been completed by 44k students! Sounds like a great way to learn about Chinese medicine.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
They of course primarily have tech programs, but I was also surprised to find a specialization in FinTech, a very hot topic these days.

Nanjing University
I'm thinking about taking the course Translation in Practice, which is based on the instructor's direct experience translating different genres and topics of writing from English to Mandarin.

National Taiwan University
Lots of programming courses, mostly Chinese language only. I had to look up one of the titles because it sounded interesting, and indeed it was! BIM = Building Information Modeling, it's like 3D design for construction projects.

National University of Singapore
NUS has a specialization called Effective Communication in the Globalised Workplace which includes 4 separate online courses. It also has multiple translations! English, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Italian, Vietnamese, German, Russian, and Spanish.

Peking University
Wow! Ok this university has a Chinese for Beginners course with over 1.1 million students and it also has a really high rating. I also had no idea they specialize in a favorite topic of mine: Neuroscience!

Shanghai Jiao Tong University
I looked them up because most of the courses in this list are not in English. SJTU goes all the way back to 1896. That feels so long ago doesn't it?

Sungkyunkwan University
This is the first (but not the only) university in the list based in South Korea, and they do include some language learning courses but I also found several about machine learning.

University of Hong Kong
In full disclosure, this list includes some search results you saw earlier because we have keywords overlapping, but it seems their main focus is dentistry, so here's a toothbrush for your time, you made it this far down the list ?

University of Tokyo
I'll admit, I was somewhat surprised to find the top course listed here is called From the Big Bang to Dark Energy. The instructor, Hitoshi Murayama, is also the MacAdams Professor of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley.

Yonsei University
Last but not least, Yonsei University is our 2nd representative from Korea! They have a course called Understanding Korean Politics which I'd like to learn more about, and also several IoT (internet of things) related courses and 5G wireless? Perhaps your online learning will be high speed too?
