From January 15 - February 15 Mitchell Park will have a bin near the library entrance to collect materials (see restrictions below) in support of Pupcycled, a local teen-run organization.
Pupcycled is a nonprofit that crafts dog toys from recycled clothing materials. Inspired by their love of dogs and shared experiences in environmental science classes and volunteer work, they are dedicated to making a meaningful impact on both the lives of dogs and the health of our planet.
Please take a moment to read about the accepted materials for the drive:
We accept:
- pre-washed fabric such as bed sheets, t-shirts, jeans, and pants. Other fabrics are fine, too, as long as they don't fall apart when cut or contain toxic materials.
We DO NOT accept:
- undergarments, socks, shoes, or knitted fabrics with holes that would fall apart if cut.
- fabrics with toxic materials like paints, glitter, metallics, flame retardants, heavy fragrances, adhesives, or plastic decals, as these may be harmful to pets. These fabrics will be upcycled into dog toys for shelter dogs in need.
Don't have materials to donate?
Instead, join Pupcycled to help make some toys to donate to local animals. Check out their upcoming volunteer opportunities here.
Including a drop-in volunteer opportunity at the Downtown library, on February 22nd (more info will be posted soon).
Please support Pupcycled and donate! For more information, visit their website here.
