A compelling read and one of my favorite series, The Inheritance Games, is out of this world. The story follows a 17-year-old girl who unexpectedly inherits a fortune from billionaire Tobis Hawthorn. To claim the money, she must live at the Hawthorne house for a full year with the four Hawthorne brothers. As the story unfolds, a series of intricate riddles and cryptic clues. Avery and the Hawthorne brothers to the real reason she inherited the money.
It was the author's storytelling and disruptions that truly pulled me into the book. After I started, I couldn’t put it down. There were so many twists and turns at each flip of the page that there was no way anyone could be bored. Jennifer Lynn Barnes had me truly caring about the characters and each of their secrets. Each character and detail introduced fit perfectly into the story, and the difference between the real world and the pages started to blur.
Beyond the thrilling plot, the book also explores deeper themes such as family and trust. Throughout the story, Avery constantly has to think about her family while uncovering Tobias Hawthorne's secrets. She must assess each new character as well as old ones to see whether or not she can trust them. In the end, she starts to realize the true meaning of family and starts to be more open-minded about people.
Overall, The Inheritance Games was truly a game-changer for me, introducing me to the world of mystery. The story is easy to follow and is fast-paced, making it a perfect read if you want to get into mystery books. Whether you enjoy mystery books or want to start reading them, The Inheritance Games is a perfect five-star read that will have your jaw on the ground.
