Art Gallery by Ellie C., Grade 9
- Tiger of the Clouds was inspired by a digital art drawing on Pinterest – what immediately captured my attention and inspired me to recreate it in watercolor was the magical feeling of the piece, which I felt would be best rendered in watercolor. As a viewer, my goal would be to get them thinking – what relationship do the tiger and the fish have, and why are they in the sky?
- This microplanet was inspired by many of my passions: snorkeling, stingrays, and Disneyland, all of which are incorporated into the piece (as well as a ring pun). I chose to make the coral reef filtered into a different color palette in order to make the viewer look twice to understand what exactly is going on – and therefore drawing them into the different aspects of the planet.
- I was inspired to make this piece when I was blowing bubbles one afternoon – I had always loved how dolphins leaped gracefully out of the water, and when I was prompted to make a bubble creation on Adobe Photoshop, I knew exactly what to do. My goal is for the viewer to enjoy the playful nature of the bubble dolphins as they jump joyfully around the bubbles.
- When watching My Neighbor Totoro, I always loved the scene in the rain when Totoro appeared . . . so when I was given the prompt to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to make a poster featuring an object I owned, I chose my beloved Totoro alarm clock to insert into that scene. I made sure to make the alarm clock unrealistically larger than possible, highlighting the quote from the movie above.
