All Palo Alto Libraries will be closed for Staff Training on Wednesday, October 2, 2019
Palo Alto, CA—All branches of the Palo Alto City Library will be closed on Wednesday, October 2 in order that all full-time staff can participate in professional development training on Design Thinking practices. Design Thinking is a creative problem-solving method that allows creation based on the needs of the people the design is meant to serve. The library wants to introduce and refresh its staff on this methodology, with the goal of identifying new programs, and retooling existing processes and programs to better serve our Palo Alto community.
The training presenter, Jess Munro, has over a decade of experience leading innovation work for Fortune 500 companies, startups and higher education, equipping employees through workshops, immersive learning, keynotes and ongoing coaching. Munro teaches at Stanford University, with courses such as Design for Influence and Human Values in Design, co-taught with David Kelley.
“We are investing in our staff to bring Design Thinking practices and mindset to improve the way we deliver services to library patrons” said Library Director Monique le Conge Ziesenhenne.
Regular library hours will resume on Thursday, October 3.
