Bed Bug Inspection Closure

Following the discovery and treatment of a bed bug infestation in 2015, the Palo Alto City Library will continue to close branches on a rotating basis to allow a vendor with canine inspections to ensure that the buildings remain free of any bugs. This is not in response to any new infestations, but is out of an abundance of caution. It is a proactive precautionary measure that the City completes twice a year.

The upcoming closure schedule is as follows:

Monday, April 9, 2018:
Children’s Library, 1276 Harriet Street will be closed all day.

Friday April 13, 2018:
Rinconada Library, 1213 Newell Road will be closed all day.

Friday April 20, 2018:
Mitchell Park Library, 3700 Middlefield Road will be closed all day.

The Downtown and College Terrace branch libraries will be inspected on days that they are regularly scheduled to be closed. All closures were selected to have as little public impact as possible. No one is allowed in the buildings during the bug-sniffing canine inspections.
