AI Wonder World Hackathon – Where Innovation Meets Impact!
On Sunday, December 22, 2024, the Mitchell Park Library came alive with energy and creativity as guest presenters from Bellatrix Warrior led an exhilarating AI Hackathon for middle school students!
The event kicked off with an inspiring discussion where students learned directly from tech industry mentors and high school leaders about AI—how it works, its limitations, and its incredible potential. Then came the challenge: teams of 2-3 students explored AI tools and developed innovative solutions to real-world problems!
Students tackled some of today’s most pressing issues, including: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
Fighting ocean pollution
Minimizing wildfire damage in California
Addressing the effects of climate change
Understanding and preventing zoonotic diseases
Simplifying travel, especially with pets
Building better fusion reactors for cleaner energy
Enhancing mental health support and suicide prevention
The ideas and presentations were nothing short of inspiring!
Last year’s event reached full capacity, and we’re thrilled to bring the hackathon back on Sunday, March 23, 2025! If you're a middle school student ready to explore AI, collaborate with peers, and create technology-driven solutions for a better world, don’t miss out!
Register to be part of the AI adventure!
